Transitions Sermon Series:
Making Sense of Life’s Changes
The Journey of a Thousand Miles
In our lives we experience many changes, some more difficult or exciting than others. Join us as Pastor Michelle begins a new sermon series called Transitions: Making Sense of Life’s Changes. Read Genesis 12: 1-9 and consider the questions below in preparation for Sunday’s sermon The Journey of a Thousand Miles…
Questions for Reflection
1. How well overall do you manage change/transition? Speak about expected or initiated change versus unexpected change.
2. In our Genesis text, did you notice how quickly Abram responded to God’s command to “leave his country, his kindred and his father’s house for ‘a land that God would show him.” Are you kidding me? Who does that? No questions, protest or documented fear? Reflect on his response and why he chose it?
3. Did you hear the stated difference between change and transition in the sermon? Does it make sense to you as you think about shifts within your own life? Where might you have “unfinished business” related to a change/transition?
4. Reflect on the stages in the transition process as outlined in the sermon. Does it ring true with you? Think about a life shift you are encountering at present and what ‘stage’ you might be in with respect to it. What’s next?
