The Dougy Center
Supporting Grief in Our Community
March 3, 2020
Alysha Lacey, L.P.C., A.T.R., presented “Supporting Grief in our Community,” at the Community Changemakers Speaker Series on Tuesday, March 3.
Lacey serves as the Program Director for The Dougy Center, a local non-profit organization that provides support for children, teens, young adults and their families grieving the death of a parent or sibling. The first organization of its kind in the United States, The Dougy Center has grown to become a model program of child-centered peer support, and serves more than 2,000 children and adults each year through support groups in Portland, Canby and Hillsboro. The Dougy Center also provides training and resources world-wide to schools, organizations and individuals seeking to assist children in grief. Because the death of a family member often brings financial hardships, The Dougy Center’s services are completely free for families.
