Endurance and Hope
Prophetic and apocalyptic imagery in the bible can sound scary – and indeed, it often names the terrible things that happen in our world. But prophetic and apocalyptic language, whether in the Gospels or in the Jewish prophets, is a message of hope – that in spite of the powerful forces we see doing real harm, those forces always fail in the light of God’s love. When we feel weary, overwhelmed and terrified, the good news rings out: this is not the end. Keep hope. Love endures.
The livestream will be available at 9:00 on Sunday, November 16, or any time after. Read Isaiah 65:17-25 and Luke 21:5-19 in preparation for Sunday’s sermon “Endurance and Hope”. The bulletin can be downloaded from the November 13 or 16 QuickNews on the “News” page.
