Pastor Michelle McKinnon-Young continues her sermon series: Building Intimate, Enduring, and Healthy Relationships Across Life with Boundaries and Healthy Relationships. Read Luke 2: 39-52 (The Boy Jesus in the Temple), Ephesians 4: 1, 14-15 (Speaking the Truth in Love) and consider the questions below in preparation for worship.
Questions for Reflection (for this sermon and beyond)
- How good are you with setting boundaries in your own life and relationships? What’s at stake if we can’t set good boundaries?
- Where and in what situations are your boundaries most permeable? How might understanding our personal/family history help?
- Boundary issues go beyond those who can’t say “no.” There are a number of boundary problems. Which best describes you when your boundaries get fuzzy? How do you respond to persons with these kind of boundary issues?
The compliant
The controller
The non-responsive
The avoidant - Talk about digital boundaries and how well you do with them?
- Talk about bonding as foundational to healthy relationships. How do boundaries set us free?
