William was appointed Director of Music and Arts at Lake Oswego UMC in 2018 after serving two years as Organist and Pianist. He has enjoyed a thriving career as a Music Director, Concert Organist, Pianist, and Choral Conductor, Recording Artist, and Teacher/Clinician for well over thirty years.
At LOUMC, William directs the music and arts program, working closely with the choral director, handbell director, band leader, and a number of volunteers. He continues to serve as principal organist and pianist while leading a full program that includes classical and contemporary music, drama, visual arts, media, dance, a developing concert and arts series, and more. He works closely with the pastor to develop and execute all worship events at the church.
With degrees in Organ Performance, Choral Conducting, and Sacred Music, William maintains an active concert and teaching career, appearing at events across the country as an organist, pianist, choral conductor, and workshop leader. He also serves as a consultant for churches seeking renewal and new direction in their worship and music programs and as an organist consultant for churches and organizations who are installing or rebuilding pipe organ projects. He has released a number of recordings of organ performances, original piano compositions, and choral performances, with new recordings released each year.
William lives in Portland with his spouse, Daryl, and their four dogs. He is grateful and excited to be serving the great people of Lake Oswego United Methodist Church in our broad and growing program of worship, music, and the arts.
