Lenten Food Boxes:
The annual Lenten Food Box collection starts at the beginning of Lent, when the boxes with attached shopping lists are available for pick-up at the church. A food box will feed a family of four one meal a day for a week. The estimated cost of filling a box, depending on where you shop is $45. A 2 lb block of cheese is often added to each box when delivered. Church members/attendees, community members, and families of the Chinese American School that meets in the church can participate by picking up a box and filling it with the items on the shopping list. Additional support to the program and the pantries is welcomed through monetary donations. Checks may be made out to Lake Oswego United Methodist Church with “Food Boxes” marked in the memo line. Filled boxes are returned to the Lake Oswego United Methodist Church for delivery to the pantries.
