What is “Gifts of Hope”?
The Gifts of Hope Fair was started in 2009, to provide members of LOUMC as an alternative to the commercialization of Christmas. The Gifts of Hope Fair challenges us to take John Wesley’s words to heart. “Purchasing” a share of a cow, school supplies for needy children, protection for the environment or help for the homeless is truly “Do(ing) all the good you can, in all the places you can, to all the people you can.”
The Gifts of Hope Fair has a two-fold purpose: bringing hope and help to the needy and honoring others.
Jesus tells us that in order to give to him; we must find him in the hungry, the thirsty, the stranger, the naked, the sick and the imprisoned. He asks us to reach out to the less fortunate. What better way to honor those we love during the Christmas season, than to buy gifts that will help the needy.
